In a recent post, I shared with you that I have been invited to be part of a group art show at ChiPRC. In addition to me, exhibiting artists will be Nate Otto, Charlie Megna, John Maloof, Erin Page, Steven Krakow, and Phoebe Fischer. You can read more about our show, Unique Techniques, on our Facebook event page.
I will be debuting several new cut-out collages, including the pieces you see below: Edgar Allan Poe and a new version of Al Capone. Unique Techniques gives me an opportunity to take my Urban Icon concept outside the scope of Chicago. For example, the map element in the Poe piece depicts Baltimore, a city where Poe established roots. As my friend Terrie Byrne pointed out to me, the Baltimore Ravens are named after Poe’s masterpiece poem, The Raven.
The new work will be for sale, so this is your opportunity to purchase your very own Urban Icon! ChiPRC is located at 858 N Ashland Ave, and the doors will be open at 8pm. There is no cover charge, although we encourage visitors to make a freewill donation. All donations will go to support ChiPRC, which is a non-profit studio space for writers and artists.
