Fulfilling a vision I have had for several months, my new Store page is finally up!  There are two original paintings currently for sale.  Check back in the weeks to come, as I plan to add a large body of work using the silkscreen process.

Here is a new drawing for you to ponder:

  1. Intrigued by this latest image, it feels almost the opposite of the lady of they keys in tone, more chaotic. That little boy in the previous image felt whole somehow, this is darker. ‘Splitting’, hmm, I think we’ve all been there, powerfully done this image, you seem to be on a roll Dean!

    • You’re spot on, Phil. The boy in Lady of the Keys is experiencing integration, whereas the figure in Splitting is experiencing just the opposite.

Much of my spiritual path involves the reconciliation of duality through higher states of consciousness. I have been profoundly alienated from certain aspects of myself, and I have been profoundly reconciled with those aspects. The latter state brings with it much peace, wisdom and hope. The former state brings unrest, hatred and despair.

There is a small glimmer of hope in Splitting. The marionette in the background suggests the Hanged Man, the wisdom that opens up when one “sacrifices” one’s narrow ego. For the character sprawled on the ground, this insight is just out of sight, but waiting nonetheless to be realized.

      • Thanks Dean, likewise, the emotions in this picture are something I’m familiar with from my life some time ago, but I do appreciated that part of the picture that points in the direction of hope, as there’s always a way out of splitting, it just takes a bit of work but the rewards are great . keep up great work mate

  2. Congrats on getting the store page up and running Dean, looking forward to seeing the silkscreen work you put up here. Really been enjoying the recent posts, especially the story and image about the lady of the keys, beautifully written and beautifully drawn, there should be a book!

    • Thank you for the encouraging words! Intriguing idea to write a book…. I’ve seen other bloggers adapt their posts into books, so that is a definite possibility for me. I have much more to say, so we’ll see where these posts take me.

Glad you’re looking forward to the silk-screens. It’s an idea I’ve been tossing around for a couple of years. I’m finally getting the materials together to do it right….
